We hold our key value of respect at the forefront of what we do. This means respect of each other, our partners, the surrounding community and respect of the environment.

Respect is at our core - for our people, our clients, our partners, our community, and our environment. As one of the UK’s most polluting industries, construction faces a challenge we’re committed to meeting: making a positive difference, not adding to the impact.

Sustainability On-Site at Dragonfly Contracts

Sustainability is central to every project. Our on-site practices focus on minimising environmental impact, supporting local communities, and reducing waste, all while aiming for top sustainability accreditations in order to ensure we are exceeding industry standards.

BREEAM Registration

BREEAM standards help us lower environmental impact, optimise energy usage, and enhance health and wellbeing.

Commitment to CCS

Through the Considerate Constructors Scheme, our projects prioritise community respect,
environmental protection, and workforce welfare.

Improving EPC Rating

We’re committed to enhancing the energy efficiency of buildings, working to improve their Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings for lower energy usage and reduced carbon emissions.

Net-Zero Builds

We design projects to balance emissions and aim for buildings with minimal environmental impact.

Prioritising Redevelopment

Repurposing existing buildings has a smaller carbon footprint than starting from scratch, so we focus on giving structures a new lease of life.

Local Workforce

Hiring locally reduces travel emissions and strengthens community ties.

Waste Management

Through material reuse, smart sourcing, recycling, and responsible disposal, we minimise construction waste on every project.

Sustainable Furniture Initiatives

Furniture Grading System

All our proposals include a sustainability rating against each product.

We analyse each piece of furniture’s recycled content, recyclability at end of life and logistical carbon miles so our customers can make an informed decision.

Sustainable Materials

We prioritise the selection of furniture made using sustainable materials and practices.

Responsibly sourced wood, bio-based frames and fabrics made from recycled plastic bottles, all whilst ensuring compliance and high quality.

Recycling and Upcycling Programmes

We design spaces that work with your existing furniture, reducing waste and contributing to the circular economy.

We engage with manufacturers to explore reupholstery options and negotiate take-back schemes. When disposal is necessary, we partner with charities that collect and upcycle items, supporting the environment and community initiatives.

Ensuring Durability and Longevity

We only propose furniture with a minimum 5-year warranty, often negotiating up to 15 years with some manufacturers.

By carefully selecting products from trusted suppliers, we help our clients invest in sustainable solutions that combine style, functionality, and resilience.

Our Internal Sustainability Practices

We monitor and actively reduce our emissions in many ways.

We aim to measure and reduce our scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

  • Scope 1 emissions refer to direct emissions by the company – from company car fuel consumption to onsite heating.
  • Scope 2 emissions and indirect from energy – from the consumption of
purchased energy, making the energy source accountable.
  • Scope 3 emissions include all other emissions occurring because of the
companies’ activities – supply chain, employee commuting, and waste disposal.

Other actions we take in order to reduce our emissions include:

  • All employees are local to our office, which helps to reduce travel emissions. We
also encourage employees to switch to electric vehicles and have installed a
    charging outlet at our office.
  • We have installed PIR sensors around the office to ensure rooms not in use are
    not wasting electricity.
  • Waste reduction by recycling all dry waste.
  • Keep all employees engaged in our sustainability efforts.
  • We work with sustainable suppliers, who used recycled materials.
